If passive thinking/engagement is simply following the cues that are given to us via external means, what does "active" thinking/engagement look like? For me, it's a 5-step "framework:" 1. **Create the cue**: we have to do this for ourselves. If we're relying on external cues, we're remaining passive to whatever the spiritual forces want to throw our way. 2. **Choose the topic**: again, we make the choice. We define what we're going to think about or engage with in the moment. 3. **Be intentional**: when it comes time to thinking and engagement, we have to set aside the time to spend with it. 4. **Be decisive**: write things down, make decisions in the moment as to the answers to the question, engage with others with answers 5. **Process loop**: thinking isn't linear, it's cyclical. As we think of things, each concept and topic can be engaged with intentional thought in the future. Loop repeatedly! --- Source: The Thinking Chair Links: - [[Nepsis as Active Occupation of the Nous]]
