# Good News - Acts 13:25-33 - 2024-08-30 Today we see Paul standing before a group of listeners in the synagogue of Pisidian Antioch. He opens his heart to them and explains "the Gospel" to them. This is a topic that I want to cover in depth in a topical post, but for today understanding that the Gospel is more than "good news" is what matters. For some the Gospel is bad news, it means that they will be judged and found guilty, but for those who choose to follow Christ and trust his grace it stands as "Good News!" *IN THOSE DAYS, as John was finishing his course, he said, "What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. No, but after me one is coming, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie." Brethren, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you that fear God, to us has been sent the message of this salvation. For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor understand the utterances of the prophets which are read every sabbath, fulfilled these by condemning him. Though they could charge him with nothing deserving death, yet they asked Pilate to have him killed. And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a tomb. But God raised him from the dead; and for many days he appeared to those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people. And we bring you the good news that what God promised to the fathers, this he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus. - Acts of the Apostles 13:25-33* Paul's words today correlate to the end of the feast of St. John the Forerunner. Paul didn't sit and quote the Bible to the people to whom he was speaking, rather he declared Jesus as he is. This is something that I think we should all rethink. How often do we hear of people "evangelizing" by simply shouting the Bible at people? For someone who doesn't consider the Bible to be authoritative, what the Bible says means nothing. Rather, showing them the living Jesus and expressing the living Jesus can be far more effective. Keep up with the blog as I write more on this topic. As I said I really want to do more about this, but I also know that it'll take some time to flesh out.
